Training Course of SAMU Ambulance Drivers

18 SAMU Ambulance Drivers followed a training course in ‘Formation   d’Adaptation à l’Emploi de Chauffeur Ambulancier SAMU/SMUR’ in      November/December 2016; delivered by two facilitators from Bordeaux.  All the 18 participants were successful and will be awarded the ‘Certificat de Compétences de Chauffeur Ambulancier SAMU/SMUR’ jointly by the MIH and University of Bordeaux.   They will now constitute a 3-member intervention team at sites of accidents.

Training of Health Care Assistants

​   Health Care Assistants recruited by the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life will follow a one-year training programme according to a new curriculum designed by the MIH and accredited by the MQA.   Training for successive batches will be scheduled to start at intervals of about 8 weeks.  It is projected to start with the first batch in February 2017.  Training of all the 215 will be completed before end of 2018.   Besides other modules related to the work of the HCA, they will receive one week training in basic Information Technology at the MIH, in batches of 40.    ...

MoU between MIH and UNFPA


We are pleased to announce that  the Mauritius Institute of Health and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in the field of Sexual & Reproductive Health.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Disease Awareness
Speaker:         Dr Kaviraj Sharma Aucharaz
                        MBBS, DCH (UK), MRPCH, FRPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health)
Dr Aucharaz is a Consultant Paediatrician (Neonatal Lead) at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. He has worked in England since 2002 and acquired extensive experience of General Paediatrics, Community Paediatrics and neonatology in inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings.  He also has a special interest in Neonatology.
