Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

We are pleased to announce that the Mauritius Institute of Health and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in the field of Sexual & Reproductive Health.

The MOU will renew and consolidate collaborative ties with the UNFPA which were established more than 30 years back, will strengthen capacity-building development across the Sub-Saharan region in Sexual and Reproductive Health and related areas and help the MIH to pursue its mandate of being a regional centre of excellence in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean region in Sexual & Reproductive Health.

Training is expected to focus on family planning and maternal health, Sexually Transmitted Infections/Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, gender issues and security of reproductive health commodity supplies amongst other things and will also be geared towards priority needs in countries of the region.

It is hoped that with this MOU, the MIH will, with support of the UNFPA, be able to share its experience in population control and Sexual & Reproductive Health with countries of the region and add impetus to their efforts to attain their sustainable development goals (SDGs).
