ACCREDITATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Since January 2025, the Acting Executive Director has provided dynamic leadership, bringing transformative progress to MIH. Under the new leadership the Mauritius Institute of Health (MIH) has achieved remarkable progress in advancing healthcare education and training. Her vision to position MIH as the centre of excellence has strengthened its role as the leading training and research arm of the Ministry of Health and Wellness. MIH programmes are accredited by the respective accreditation authorities. MIH is listed as a public higher education institution by the Alignment with the Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA) framework and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Mauritius.<\/p>\n\n

NEW COURSES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The Acting Executive Director has closely supported the accreditation of the National Diploma (Level 6) in Nursing and played a pivotal role in the design, development, and accreditation of several specialised training programmes. These include the National Certificate (level 4) in Healthcare Assisting, National Diploma (Level 6) \u00a0specialised in Operating Theatre Nursing, National Diploma (Level 6) specialised in Oncology Nursing, National Diploma (Level 6) specialised in Adult Intensive Care Unit, National Diploma (Level 6) specialised in Cardiovascular Disease and Care, National Diploma (Level 6) \u00a0specialised in Diabetes Foot Care Nursing, National Diploma (Level 6) specialised in Midwifery, and the BSc (Hons.) Nursing programme, amongst others. These initiatives aim to equip healthcare professionals, paramedics, and the National Certificate Level 5 in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care tailored for police officers, and fire & rescue services officers, with advanced skills and up-to-date knowledge, and strengthen the competencies of those working directly in healthcare and emergency response, to effectively address the evolving and critical health needs of the country.<\/p>\n\n

GRADUATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

With the support of the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW), the MIH has successfully organised graduation ceremonies for multiple training batches, including Pharmacy Technicians (Batch 2), Operation Theatre Nursing (Batch 1), Nuclear Medicine (Batch 1), Diabetes Foot Care Nursing, Phlebotomy (Batch 2), Permanencier (Batch 1), Forensic Medicine, SAMU Infirmier, FETP Frontline, National Diploma in Nursing, Healthcare Assisting<\/p>\n\n

COLLABORATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Under this strategic leadership, the Mauritius Institute of Health (MIH) has also strengthened its institutional partnerships through multiple strategic collaborations. These include Memorandum of Understanding and Collaborative agreements with prominent local and international institutions such as the University of Bordeaux, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Mauritius National Cancer Registry, the Mauritius Police Force, the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service, C-Care (Mauritius) Ltd, Patrick Sanna Ltd, Polytechnics Mauritius, and the Association Group Enfants et M\u00e8res (GEM). Notable collaborations also include the Indian Ocean Commission (Commission de l\u2019Oc\u00e9an Indien) FETP Frontline One Health Programme, the Master\u2019s in Field Epidemiology.<\/p>\n\n

These partnerships reflect MIH\u2019s commitment to fostering excellence in healthcare education through knowledge exchange and advanced training opportunities to address national health priorities.<\/p>\n\n

ONLINE PLATFORM (VHLM)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The Virtual Health Library Mauritius (VHLM) stands as a cornerstone of knowledge management at the Mauritius Institute of Health (MIH). This innovative digital platform provides healthcare professionals, medical students, medical officers, and trainees with seamless access to a wide range of high-quality resources, including international medical journals, evidence-based clinical guidelines, and local research publications. The VHLM has significantly enhanced knowledge dissemination and continuous professional development. The recent upgrade of the online Moodle platform has further strengthened its effectiveness, ensuring that MIH trainees remain at the forefront of evidence-based practice and the latest medical knowledge and advancements.<\/p>\n\n

INFRASTRUCTURAL EXPANSION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Through targeted initiatives by the Ministry of Health and Wellness and MIH to promote and expand accessibility to quality training, the establishment of the new MIH Complex represents a significant milestone and a major leap forward for the Mauritius Institute of Health. This has significantly enabled the MIH to accommodate a larger number of participants\/trainees of the Ministry of Health and Wellness across various healthcare disciplines through more structured training programmes, thereby addressing the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n\n

AWARDING BODY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Furthermore, with the support of the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Ministry of Education and Human Resource, the Acting Executive Director has successfully advocated for the Mauritius Institute of Health (MIH) to be recognised as the designated Awarding Body for all healthcare programmes offered by private training institutions. The curricula developed by MIH have been meticulously designed to the highest standards and are officially listed on the Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA) website. This enables other approved training providers to deliver these programmes under MIH\u2019s quality oversight as the Awarding Body.<\/p>\n\n

Through strategic partnerships and the streamlining of training frameworks, the MIH is positioned as a national leader in standardising healthcare education, significantly raising the overall quality of healthcare training across Mauritius.
